Concordia Withdraw From League For 2015 Season

2015-09-15

Lack of players force CU to regroup

Concordia University Men's Lacrosse Club has announced it has withdrawn from CUFLA for the remainder of the 2015 season.

CUFLA was informed of the club's intentions on Monday. During opening weekend of play Concordia lost a pair of games to McGill and Carleton, being outscored 40-1. Lack of players, their heath and safety were a concern among the program leaders and the club decided to end the season.

Team General Manager Mike Taddeo is confident and optimistic about a return to the league in 2016. "With this time we will regroup and focus on recruiting student athletes," commented Taddeo.

As for the remaining league schedule, Concordia games will all be counted as forfeits, giving their opponent two points in the standings.

"It's unfortunate situation for the league and Concordia program," said CUFLA Commissioner David Fenicky. "We believe the decision is in the best interest for long-term success at CU."
