Trent runs out for season opener against Carleton

The Trent Excalibur have high expectations for 2016. They started the season off on the right foot with a 10-5 come from behind win over Carleton. Trent will be back in action Wednesday night when they play host to Queen's.

The Trent Excaliburs travelled to Ottawa on a rainy day to take on the Carleton Ravens in their 2016 season opener. With high expectations this year in the East, the Excaliburs return with much of their core 2015 strength.

Immediately, Trent applied pressure only to be turned away time and again by Raven goalie Simon Bellamy. The Ravens survived the onslaught to build a 2-0 lead on goals by middies Hayden Cummings (his first CUFLA goal) and Steven Snowling.

The Ravens led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.
Carleton pressed out 3-1 and 4-2 leads but Trent fought back to tie the game 4-4 at half. The game became of battle of goalies as Trent’s Kyle Holton answered Bellamy save for save and post for post.

The weather worsened in the second half as Trent pressed forward, gradually separating from the Ravens to finish with a strong 10-5 win.
