The Carleton Ravens fell 10-5 to the Queen’s Gaels on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Ottawa on September 9.
Game 2 for the Ravens, it was the Gaels' season opener. The Gaels looked good early, building a first quarter 3-0 lead on goals by Chris Boushy, Riley Venton and Keaton Ward before the Ravens could reply with 2 goals from Ty Logan. The Gaels took advantage of Raven breakdowns to build a 5-2 halftime lead on second goals by both Boushy and Venton.
The Ravens Cam Breen scored on a sweep to start the second half. The teams traded goals with Matthew Leon scoring his first of three on the day and Noah Hoselton ripping his first from the outside, bringing the score to 6-4.
The Gaels went on a run, pushing their lead to 10-4 on goals by Dylan Hutchison, Leon, Ryan McGuire and Leon again for his hat trick. The Ravens fought back with some good possessions, but only a bomb from Hoselton for his second of the day could beat Gaels’ keeper Thomas Asma.
The Ravens fall to 0-2 on the season following a season opening loss to McGill earlier in the week. The Ravens face Trent in Peterborough next Saturday. Queen’s (1-0) face Bishop's next.
