Firth Supplants Slade at Top of Pat Gregoire's IL 3 Stars

First Star

Samuel Firth, Bishop's University

Bishop's only played one game this week but Samuel Frith's six-goal performance was good enough to grab top spot in this week's CUFLA Inside Lacrosse Three Stars. The freshman ripped home six goals, including the game winner in triple OT, to knock off the rival McGill Redmen 12-11. Firth now has 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points in just the first four games of his CUFLA career. His 24 points is not only good enough for first in team scoring, but he also leads all CUFLA freshmen in points.

Second Star

Brandon Slade, Brock University

The reign of Brandon Slade has continued as the Orangeville, ON native filled the score sheet once again, tallying an impressive 14 points in two games this past weekend. On Friday night, Slade ripped home four goals while adding five assists for nine points in Brock's dominating 22-2 win over McMaster. On Saturday, Slade helped the Badgers down their rivals the Western Mustangs and remain unbeaten as he netted a hat trick and two assists en route to a thrilling 12-11 victory. The three-time All-Canadian is running away with the scoring title already with 44 points in five games, almost doubling up Western's Cody Ward and Laurentian's Sam Postma who sit in second with 28 each.

Third Star

Sam Postma, Laurentian University

Sophomore attackman Sam Postma had a monstrous performance this past weekend, tallying 11 goals and adding a trio of helpers in a 1-1 weekend for the Voyageurs. On Saturday, Postma recorded a career-high 11 points as he tickled twine nine times and dished out a pair of assists en route to a 15-8 win over Laurier. The next day, Postma wasn't nearly as dominant, but still managed to rack up three points against a stingy defensive team in Guelph. The Brampton, ON native leads the entire league with 23 goals and is tied with Cody Ward for second in CUFLA scoring (28).

Mitch Ogilvie, University of Guelph

Freshmen midfielder Mitch Ogilvie had a breakout performance on Sunday, registering five goals and adding four assists for nine points in the Guelph Gryphons' 18-10 win over Laurentian. The product of Peterborough, ON now has 10 goals, five assists and 15 points in his rookie campaign.

Goose Bolton, McGill University

Senior attackman Goose Bolton stuffed the net seven times in a pair of Redmen games this week, bringing his total up to 23 goals on the season. The Darien, CT four times in a heartbreaking triple overtime loss at Bishop's on Thursday. The very next day, Bolton scored another hat trick in a massive 14-7 victory over Trent University.

Fred Hartley, University of Ottawa

Senior Fred Hartley threw the Ottawa Gee Gees on his back in the fourth quarter, scoring four goals in the final frame including the game winner in the final minute as they downed Queen's 12-11. The hometown Ottawa product finished the afternoon with six goals and an assist for a game-high seven points. The next day, Hartley followed up his big performance with a hat trick in a tough 14-4 loss to Trent.

Josh Wood, Brock University
Sophomore Josh Wood was solid between the pipes in the Brock Badgers huge 12-11 victory over the defending champion Western Mustangs. The Welland, ON native shut the door 12 times to help keep the Badgers undefeated in 2017 and take sole possession of first in the west. Wood improved his record to 3-0 on the season while sporting a 7.20 GAA.
