The Western Mustangs repeated as Baggataway Cup champions Sunday with a thrilling 16-14 roller coaster ride of an overtime win over the Brock Badgers.

The Western Mustangs are the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association champions once again, winning their second consecutive title with a 16-14 overtime victory over the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon.

Reid Reinholdt led the Mustangs attack on Sunday, scoring three goals and adding an assist, while Thomas Masterson also recorded four points in the win with two goals and two assists. Manraj Nijjar got the win in net for Western, and Jackson Rakoczy was named player of the game as the Mustangs won the fifth title in program history.

Western got off to a strong start on Sunday, opening the scoring less than three minutes into the game with a goal from Cole Davis. The purple and white followed that up with two quick goals from Reinholdt and Charlie Dunn to take a 3-0 lead before the eight-minute mark.

After the Badgers got on the board with a short-handed marker from Brandon Slade, Reinholdt netted his second goal of the day to put Western up 4-1 midway through the period.

That set the stage for a wild final four minutes of the first frame, with the Badgers receiving goals from Slade and Connor Ham, while Western picked up points from Bryne and Masterson to hold a 6-3 lead after the first.

The game's rapid scoring pace slowed down in the second period, with the Badgers recording the only two points of the frame off goals from Ham and Jordan Gillis to cut Western's lead to 6-5 at the half.

Both teams traded goals for the opening portion of the third period before Masterson, Cody Ward, and Reinholdt scored three consecutive goals to close out the frame with Western leading 11-8.

The Badgers answered back with three straight goals of the their own to open the fourth, paving the way for an exciting final few minutes of regulation time. Davis notched his second goal of the game to put Western up by one with just under six minutes remaining, before Josh Harris scored for Brock with 31 seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime.

Overtime continued the game's frantic pace, with Jackson Hulbert scoring less than 30 seconds in to put the Mustangs back in front. The Badgers fired back a little more than a minute later, scoring two goals in less than 20 seconds to go up by one.

Just as it looked like Brock would take their lead into the second overtime period Davis registered his third goal of the game to tie things up. The Mustangs didn't stop there, with Hulbert scoring the game winner with just five seconds left in the first overtime period. Nik Farrus closed out the scoring with a goal midway through the second overtime to give the Mustangs a 16-14 win.
