CUFLA Well Represented at FIL World Championships

Eleven CUFLA student-athletes and alumni are competing at the 2018 FIL World Championships in Netanya, Israel.

The 2018 FIL World Championships getting under way in Netanya, Israel are the largest there ever have been or ever will be, and CUFLA will be represented on eight of the 46 teams taking part. 

Carleton Ravens attack Noah Hoselton is a veteran of Slovakian national teams. The Netanya worlds July 11-21 will be his sixth time representing the country of his heritage. Hoselton first appeared in the white, red and blue of Slovakia in the 2010 field lacrosse world championships in Manchester, UK.

Two years later he travelled to Amsterdam, Netherlands to play in the European championships, then went to Denver for Worlds in 2014 and Budapest, Hungary in 2016 for the Euros.

Overseas teams moved indoors in 2017 for the first ever European Box Lacrosse Championships and Hoselton once again played a key role for Slovakia during the tournament in Turku, Finland.

Hoselton is currently completing a Master's degree in Structural Engineering at Carleton.

A trio of McGill Redmen alumni will be in Netanya. Kyle Robinson (McGill '13) is an assistant coach for Hong Kong while midfielder Matthew Tse (McGill '16) is playing for the same team. Jon Rathauser (McGill '13) is suiting up as a defender for Israel.

Bishop's is represented by the largest number of alumni involved with the tournament. The trio of Khris Scott, Drew Pollock and Andrew Barber are coaching Luxembourg. Gaiters grads Alex Millin and Richard Sainthill are midfielders for South Korea and Finland, respectively.

Reigning CUFLA midfielder of the year Reid Reinholdt is serving as an assistant coach for China.

And last but not least, Brock defender Latrell Harris made Team Canada and will be helping them try to defend their gold medal.
