The 2009 season will be a transition year for the Varsity Blues. The team graduated a number of key players from last year’s team including goalie Angus Dineley (Masters, English), long poles , Anthio Yuen (Masters, Urban Planning) and Kiel Nizich (graduate, Physical Education and Health), and middies Beau Bassett and Scott Lemke.

Looking to pick up the slack will be second and third year players Andrew Kerr, Kevin Sloan, long pole Mike Ayotte (Peterborough Jr. A.) and long pole/middie Jordan Nizich. Expected to lead the team in scoring this year will be attackman Will Dunlop (Alberta Crew Jr. B). The team will be looking for veteran leadership from goalie Joncarlo Bairos, attack/middie James Forbes (Phd. Candidate, Aerospace Engineering), and middies Mikael Chullen and Andrei Bruno (Beaches Jr. A).

We are pleased to have incoming freshman middie MarcAnthony Koukoulas (Engineering) join the team. MarcAnthony attended Walpole High School near Boston which won the Division II state championship this past spring.

We are also excited to have added two new coaches to the staff. Casper Jones has extensive international field lacrosse experience, having coached both junior and senior field lacrosse teams in England, USA, New Zealand, Korea and Canada. Casper also coaches field and box in the Toronto Beaches organization. Chris Cote is a goalie for the Burlington Lakers Senior Men’s Lacrosse Team and will look after the defense and goalies.
