Six CUFLA alumni and a veteran ref have been nominated for the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame's 2021 class.

Six CUFLA alumni and a long-time CUFLA referee are among the 20 nominees for the National Lacrosse League's 2021 Hall of Fame class.

Brock alumni Shawn Williams, Sandy Chapman, Ryan Cousins, Pat McCready and Mike Accursi (who also coached the Badgers), Laurier alum Colin Doyle and ref Bill Fox were announced as nominees on Thursday. Accuris, Doyle and Williams are three of eight forwards nominated. Three of the eight will be elected by the Hall of Fame selection committee, of which CUFLA communications coordinator Stephen Stamp is a voting member.

Chapman, Cousins and McCready are joined by six other defenders. As with the forwards, three of that group will be elected by the selection committee.

Bill Fox, who has been a referee as well as a mentor for many other officials, is one of three nominees in the builders category, two of whom will be elected.

Voting will be conducted over the next few weeks and inductees will be announced in the summer. The NLL Hall of Fame currently includes 27 members, inducted in 11 classes from 2006 through 2016. Inductions lapsed for the past four years but the league is resuming adding players to the Hall.

Any of the CUFLA nominees who are elected this year will join Laurier alumnus John Tavares, who was inducted in 2016.
