With one finalist set, Saturday night's matchup between the Bishop’s Gaiters and Brock Badgers would determine the second team vying for the coveted Baggataway Cup.

The Gaiter’s entered the game as the higher seed, receiving a bye into the semifinals, while the Badgers had to outlast the Queen’s Gaels Friday night to earn a trip to this contest.

In a defensive battle, it was Brock who walked away with the victory and will have a shot at the CUFLA title after a 10-7 victory over Bishop’s.

Tight from the opening faceoff, neither team was able to grab control of the game, but both did have their chances.

Just five goals were scored in the opening 20 minutes, as Brock held a slight, one-goal lead on the Gaiters, up 3-2.

At halftime, it was all even, as the Gaiters managed two of the three goals in the second frame and evened things up after 40 minutes. The score was all tied up, 4-4.

After three, it was a three-goal spread, with the Badgers up 7-4 on Bishop’s thanks to all the offence in the period. Then the Badgers locked things down, sealing the win with a strong fourth quarter.

Despite each team finding the back of the net – three times each – the end result went the Badgers way.

The key point in the game was a six-goal swing in favour of Brock from the second quarter to the beginning of the fourth.

Leading the way for the Badgers were Josh Rex and Tyrus Rehanek with a pair of goals each.

Jacob Gasperetti led the way for the Gaiters, scoring four of the team’s seven goals.

Unfortunately for the Gaiters, the season has come to a close, as they suffer their first loss of the season.

On the winning side, after the 80 minutes, the Badgers are moving on to the finals to face the Guelph Gryphons.
