CUFLA Update:

2009-10-13

Some Play for Gold, Some Play for Pride

Some Play for Gold, Some Play for Pride

Undefeated Brock travels to Mc Master, Wednesday night, October 14, to take on the surging Marauders. Mac has knocked off Guelph and Western to place second in the West standings. They dropped their first set 9-6 to Brock in week two, but their recent success should have them primed for this contest. Brock had an unexpected push at Laurier and a road trip to Laurentian. They should be ready to go on all cylinders to start a difficult late schedule stretch.

The Badgers travel to Western Sunday, October 18 for a 2pm contest with the Mustangs. Western dropped two tight games last week to Mac and Guelph but they have pulled the upset over Brock in past years under similar circumstances. The Badgers can’t look past this one.

The Road Warriors from Laurentian start their weekend marathon Friday night, October 16, at Laurier where they will get their last legitimate chance to hatch the goose egg. Laurier’s opportunity to reshape CUFLA fizzled last week. The Voyageurs were tied at half in their first meeting. Get some sleep on the bus. Saturday they go to Western and Sunday they face Mac, before they head home.

In the East, Queens’ has a couple of games where pride is on the line. On Saturday the Gaels travel to     U of T to take on the Blues who are also looking for their first win. On Sunday Carleton travels to Kingston to play their return match with Queens’. A Carleton victory will solidify fourth place for the Ravens. Upsets by the Blues and Gaels will bring some gratification to a long season.

There are nine CUFLA games this weekend. For those still dreaming of upsets, Carleton travels to Trent Saturday, and Bishops’ goes to Toronto, Sunday. If you think this is a long shot, remember the Blues beat Bishops’ last year for their only win.

Check all the matches and game times under “Schedule” on cufla.ca.
