Defence and goaltending ruled the day in McMaster's narrow victory over Toronto Wednesday night.
That's not a 10 in the graphic atop this story--it's a 1 and a 0.
In a battle of strong defence and goaltending, a single goal by McMaster's Jacob Morrisey midway through the fourth quarter was the decisive blow as the Marauders downed the Univeristy of Toronto Varsity Blues 1-0 at McMaster's Alumni Field Wednesday night.
Colin Korry was credited with 28 saves in the McMaster net while Sam Lehman stopped 23 shots for Toronto. McMaster pitched the shutout even with a pair of their defensive mainstays out of the game.
The Marauders have now scored 5 goals in their last two games and won both of them. That improves their record to 5-2, tying them with Guelph for second in the CUFLA West standings. Western is first at 6-0 while Brock (4-2) and Laurier (4-3) sit just behind Mac and Guelph in the ultra tight West Division standings.
McMaster plays host to winless Laurentian Friday night then closes their regular season schedule with a pair of critical Sunday road games, this week at Guelph then October 22 at Brock.
