CUFLA has a new incoming Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner.

The Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association is excited to announce the appointment of a new commissioner and assistant commissioner.

Scott Fox will be taking over the role of commissioner from Kevin Caplice and Tom Bileski will become an assistant commissioner, replacing Brandon McLean. Both Fox and Bileski will officially assume their roles following the conclusion of the 2023 Baggataway Cup, to be held at Trent University's Justin Chiu Stadium November 3-5.

New Commisioner Scott Fox

Fox is well known as the host of a syndicated morning radio show and as the in-arena host for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League. He has extensive experience in lacrosse as a coach, manager, executive, convenor and commissioner. His involvement has included minor through Junior A as well as Team Ontario box lacrosse. Fox most recently has served as the convenor for the All Canada Games and program coordinator for Edge Lacrosse, Canada's largest recruiting programs for high school players interested in going on to play and study at the CUFLA or NCAA level.

Fox has big plans to build on the growth CUFLA has enjoyed under the direction of its previous executives and help the league to flourish with broader visibility and generation of revenue streams to support the league's mission of providing a place for players to receive excellent education while playing high calibre field lacrosse.

New Assistant Commissioner Tom Bileski

Bileski is a musician and business owner with extensive experience as a coach, board member and volunteer in lacrosse. He has contributed his time at the minor and junior level. Bileski has also been directly involved with CUFLA, serving as general manager and assistant coach for the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks. He has helped to grow the game of lacrosse across the globe by committing substantial time and energy to collecting and repurposing gear to World Lacrosse national programs. His efforts have supported the development of lacrosse in Uganda, Kenya, Hong Kong, Haiti, Ireland, England, Portugal, US inner-city programs
.

CUFLA is excited to welcome Fox and Bileski to the executive and looks forward to fresh ideas and possibilities they bring to the league.

Thank You to Departing Executive Members

CUFLA also extends hearty thank yous to Caplice and McLean. Both of the departing executive members have made significant contributions to the league as players and beyond. Caplice, a University of Toronto alum, was a long-time referee and served as referee in chief for CUFLA from 2005-'14. At that point he became an assistant commissioner and stayed in that role until 2020, when he took over the role of commissioner when David Fenicky had to move on from the position because of work and family commitments. Caplice and his wife recently retired and have moved to Spain. Even from across the ocean, Caplice continues to serve as commissioner for this season and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for Fox taking over the role. Caplice's contributions to CUFLA cannot be overstated and he will always be considered a member of the CUFLA family.

McLean has served as an assistant commissioner since 2017. He let the executive know that he would like to step down when a suitable replacement could be found. McLean played at McGill and became an assistant commissioner while still living in Montreal. Having moved to Vancouver for work a couple of years ago, he felt that the league could be better served by someone closer geographically to where the league plays. McLean is helping to on-board Bileski as his replacement and has made it clear he will continue to support the league.

Fox and Bileski are already working with the continuing members of the executive: assistant commissioner Chris Lesanko, treasurer Mark Walker and communications coordinator Stephen Stamp. Both plan to attend the Baggataway Cup as they prepare to officially take on their new roles.
