The second stage of the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association’s Great Canadian Lax Bash was played at downtown Toronto’s Lamport Stadium on Saturday in front of hundreds of fans.

Hosted by Major League Lacrosse’s Toronto Nationals, all six of CUFLA’s western teams participated as well as the University of Toronto and Carleton University. The festivities also included a pavilion with concessions.

On the field, Carleton prevailed over U of T 15-10, Wilfrid Laurier University topped Laurentian University 15-8 and the University of Western Ontario beat out McMaster University 11-5.

The past two CUFLA champions faced each other in a thrilling main event as the University of Guelph (2008) handled Brock University (2009) 15-7 and put the rest of the Western Conference on notice that the Gryphons are the team to beat.

After just two weeks of play Guelph has a commanding 4-0 record and a firm grip on the West, while Bishop’s is 3-0 and has the lead in the Eastern Conference.

Week three starts Saturday afternoon with Queen’s at McGill and Bishop’s in Ottawa to face Carleton. That night Trent will be in downtown Toronto to play U of T under the lights of Varsity Stadium.

Check CUFLA.org over the weekend for the latest results and statistics.
