CUFLA Seeks Director of Communications

The Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) celebrates its 29^th anniversary in 2013.  From humble ‘club’ beginnings, to varsity level teams in 2013, the league has come a long way in the last three decades where the competition is intense and continues to improve each and every year.  Moreover, recruiting efforts span throughout North America as many U.S. born student-athletes are choosing to compete in Canada’s most competitive field lacrosse league.  Moreover, alumni play professional field lacrosse and have won gold playing for Team Canada.  The season culminates with the Baggataway Cup, the final six of Canadian University Lacrosse. 

CUFLA has an immediate need for a Director of Communications.  This position is renewable annually and comes with an annual stipend of $1,300. 
 
Work Requirements:

• Clean, clear, creative, persuasive writing
• Provide steady stream of content, posting press releases and articles weekly on www.cufla.ca during the season (Late August through early November).  Bi-weekly press releases and articles in the off-season. 
• Disseminate press releases to U.S. and Canadian media outlets
• Communicate with provincial lacrosse associations for article inclusion in provincial media
• Manage CUFLA’s social media platform
• Enthusiastic commitment to staying on top of lacrosse related news
• Strong familiarity with top sources of lacrosse opinions and information

Required Qualifications:

• Track record of knowledgeable, engaging, and timely coverage of lacrosse
• Technically versatile and savvy enough to create content for different formats, devices and media, including video
• Significant experience in writing lacrosse related articles
• Comfortable working remotely, staying in touch via e-mail and phone
