U of T Earns First Win of Season

Marc-Anthony Koukoulas and AJ Masson combined for six goals in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team to a 10-8 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday, September 15 in Waterloo, Ont.

Tied 2-2 after the first quarter, the Blues scored three unanswered goals and took a 5-3 lead into halftime. Toronto opened the third quarter with two more tallies, before Laurier mounted a comeback and evened the score at 7-7 early in the fourth.

U of T prevailed as Masson and Koukoulas each scored their third goals of the game, and Samuel Krempel added an insurance marker with 1:41 remaining to secure the victory.

Patrick Belisle, Ben Hayes and Michael Buwalda added one goal each in the victory.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, September 22 as they head to Sudbury, Ont., to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m.
