The Western University men’s lacrosse team is back on the winning track after a posting a pair of convincing victories in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) action this past weekend.

Playing host to the McMaster Marauders on Friday (Sept. 13), Western was not long in ridding themselves of the bitter taste left after a 7-6 loss to Guelph the week before.

Out to an early 2-0 first quarter lead, the Mustangs never looked back. Riding the strength of a strong defensive effort and three-goal showings by Dylan Ham, Shane Morlock and Ryan McCrory, the Western squad rode their way to a 13-2 decision over their Hamilton adversaries.

Western continued its winning ways under the lights of TD Stadium the following night against Brock.

Trailing by one after 20 minutes of play, the Mustangs cranked up the offence in the second quarter. Lead by Sam Neeb who added two goals to his first quarter offering and another pair by McCrory, Western outpaced the Badgers for the balance of the contest to improve their season record to 2-1, coming away at the final whistle with a 13-5 victory.

Western is back on the road Friday (Sept. 20) for the second of two games against McMaster before returning home on Saturday (Sept. 21) for a date with the Laurier Golden Hawks.
